[00:20] [Darkhawk] oh, right!
[00:20] [Darkhawk] So, what type of game would you like Tommi?
[00:21] [Darkhawk] No more hardcore OCD micromanagement strategy, I take it? Or I'd have recommended Darkest Dungeon...
[00:21] [Darkhawk] Hard West for something simpler, but still turnbased strategy. Good Western/demonic vibe and story in this indie kickstarter.
[00:22] [Darkhawk] Could also relax with Thimbleweed Park, a classic adventure from the makers of Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island. Also a new kickstarter.
[00:23] [Darkhawk] For RPG, there's Undertale, an indie.. kickstarter very ver different RPG, takes some time to get going, but very lauded by the critics. If you don't mind lack of graphics.
[00:23] [Darkhawk] Guess that was one game for each main game type.
[00:24] [der_Tommi] That's right. No OCD please.
[00:25] [der_Tommi] Have the big studios done anything playable recently?
[00:26] [der_Tommi] Would be nice to just immerse for a good while with little effort, like with Mass Effect games.
[00:28] [der_Tommi] That's why I was considering giving The Witcher another try. Like, play the whole trilogy and hope the characterisation gets more tolerable in the sequels as they try to please a bigger audience (which, for example includes the non-goth me).
[00:29] [der_Tommi] I guess I'm not necessarily looking for anything different and super-innovative right now. Just something of quality in the genres we like.
[00:30] [der_Tommi] (I know The Witcher is innovative in many ways.)
[00:36] [Darkhawk] oh ok, didn't mention longer games, as I thought they'd be.. Too long ;) But ok, hrm.
[00:36] [Darkhawk] Sure, TW3 with all expansions is a great, great game. Especially the last expansion.
[00:37] [Darkhawk] Otherwise, Divinity Original Sin (EE) is great as well, and the sequel is out next month. However, might have a too 'light' story tone for you, and too much RPG mechanics maybe.
[00:38] [Darkhawk] Or how about the Shadowrun RPG series? Did you try those?
[00:38] [Darkhawk] Or if you want something really nice and short, This War of Mine, of course. Everyone should play that.
[00:38] [Darkhawk] *everyone*
[00:39] [Wheri] Comes with a free depression, too.
[00:48] [der_Tommi] A few tens of hours is fine to suggest, as long as it doesn't get multiplied by my need to perfect every move.
[00:49] [der_Tommi] True, I don't tend to like light-toned games / stories, unless they're actual comedies. Or Lemmings, of course.
[00:51] [der_Tommi] I've never done anything Shadowrun whatsoever. Might try, I guess.
[00:52] [der_Tommi] And I guess I could try This War of Mine, especially if it's short.
[00:52] [der_Tommi] Anyway, thanks for the suggestions. But now it's time for bed. Good night!
[01:01] [Darkhawk] Yes, do try This War of Mine then. As Wheri says, unless you're a goth, it also comes with a free depression. Both art and good gameplay and short.
[01:01] [Darkhawk] And ok, sleep well!
