[16:26] [Darkhawk] And wooh
[16:28] [Nuala] wooh
[16:30] [Norah] I wonder how much of the fallacy files and derailing for dummies I'm going to encounter in my Logic I and II classes.
[16:31] [Darkhawk] Logic? I thought you were studying language?
[16:31] [Darkhawk] heh.. Yes, ok, but in Denmark, language students don't have those courses..
[16:31] [Norah] I'm studying linguistics, you can't see how logic andsemantics might be relevant?
[16:32] [Darkhawk] of course I can
[16:32] [Norah] Students of a language get part of this during other lessons for relevance with essay writing and stuff, but no full Logic courses.
[16:35] [Norah] Bloggers have dubbed a lot of this emoting, for some reason; people who try to convince others by using language to influence them without their knowledge. People who use purely arguments from science are called logic bombers.
[16:35] [Darkhawk] hehe, logic bombers.. nice drailing.
[16:35] [Darkhawk] drailing.. Cool word..
[16:35] [Norah] It's not an insult.
[16:35] [Darkhawk] sounds so to me.
[16:35] [Darkhawk] bombers being.. not so nice
[16:36] [Norah] They have tried to separate types of arguers, though people can be a mix of course, and have listed how it can work both positively and badly.
[16:37] [Norah] I guess logic bombers do have it worst since the vast majority of people don't really respond to logical argument nearly as much as emotion. manipulators, whatever their intent, get more result except among a small number of academics.
[16:38] [Darkhawk] almost everything is emotion and preconceived opinions. I've tuned out of the 'win this argument' races a long time ago. Just ego and pre-set values all around anyway.
[16:39] [Darkhawk] Including my own of course, but no need to force them on others in arguments ;)
[16:59] [Norah] Just pondering how on the internet, everyone acts like all kinds of stuff is a huge revelation only just discovered, and they proceed to name it, when it's actually not new and if they did an iota of research, they could just use the names that are already in use.
[17:00] [Darkhawk] Because the internet is a free forum where you don't need to do research, and everyone's an expert on any field.
[17:01] [Norah] And so people reinvent the wheel in pretty much every area, and do 10 times as much work as they have to do.
[17:01] [Norah] (And people worry the internet will make people lazier :P)
[17:01] [Darkhawk] sometimes you learn something by reinventing the wheel though.
[17:01] [Norah] Exactly.
[17:02] [Norah] But you learn it by reading or hearing about the experience as well, and it costs a lot less time and trouble.
[17:02] [Darkhawk] somestimes you learn things better and more intimately by inventing them.. Or throwing out your first essay and retyping it for instance.
[17:02] [Darkhawk] Sucks though ;)
[17:05] [Darkhawk] Anyway.. nap.. Or I die..

[23:39] [Darkhawk] Hey Mehken, still playing LotRO? What's happening there these days?
[23:39] [Mehken] Still playing, yes.
[23:40] [Mehken] And they're in a bit of a.. hmm.. mess
[23:40] [Mehken] Supposed to go Free to Play tomorrow, but it's been delayed in Europe
[23:40] [Darkhawk] What's this about something new in Helegrod?
[23:41] [Mehken] Ah. That's with the F2P update. They're introducing a new region and level scaling of old instances
[23:41] [Darkhawk] all old instances, or just this one?
[23:42] [Mehken] That means Helegrod, Great Barrows and the Eregion instances will become playable at any level from their original to level cap
[23:42] [Mehken] Only those at first, but they're planning on doing the same to all of them
[23:42] [Mehken] Helegrod and GB will be split up, by the way. Smaller instances
[23:43] [Darkhawk] Hrm ok
[23:43] [Darkhawk] But, there are rumours of impending doom and death?
[23:43] [Mehken] Which they've already learned from, so for the rift, they plan on giving both the option of the old one as well as smaller areas of it
[23:44] [Mehken] Well.. the information flow to customers/players from CM has been.. horrible
[23:44] [Darkhawk] Hrm, seems like cheating.. Some of the niceness came from big instances and not being able to just speedwalk through
[23:45] [Mehken] Ah. You won't be able to access Thorog in Helegrod unless you've killed the other bosses first
[23:45] [Mehken] You only have to do that once, though
[23:45] [Darkhawk] mhm ok
[23:45] [Mehken] Anyways.. from what I gather, it's the ingame store causing trouble
[23:46] [Mehken] Turbine's account system is different from codies and that's been the reason given for the EU players not getting MyLOTRO
[23:47] [Darkhawk] Yeah, lots of trouble with CM
[23:47] [Mehken] Now, Turbine has been struggling in getting the store ready for their own system, so I'm guessing that would be even harder for CM to implement
[23:48] [Mehken] Actually, I'm beginning to think it's Turbine having developed the game with the expectation of using their existing account system and not giving proper support to CM for implementing changes in EU
[23:49] [Mehken] Especially if the Turbine devs are hard pressed in getting their own things to work
[23:49] [Darkhawk] I'm thinking about communication issues though
[23:49] [Mehken] That, I agree with
[23:49] [Mehken] Did call it 'horrible' before ;)
[23:51] [Mehken] Appears some top level boss in CM put the gag on all the community managers three weeks ago, when they must've realized it would be tough for them to meet the deadline
[23:52] [Darkhawk] mhrm
[23:52] [Mehken] Anyways.. we were told yesterday, that the launch had been delayed. That's a little late ;)
[23:54] [Darkhawk] no shit ;)
[23:55] [Darkhawk] Still, probably means they thought they were close
[23:55] [Mehken] Yeah, they've said as much. They kept thinking they could make it during those weeks of silence
[23:56] [Mehken] With the delay now, though. I'm certain they'll wait and see how it goes in the US before comitting to a date
[23:56] [Mehken] Err.. how the launch goes
[23:58] [Darkhawk] Right. I guess F2P will make or break the game now. It was probably that or go bust
[23:58] [Mehken] Not so sure of that
[23:59] [Darkhawk] because?
